The summer associate program gives law students (and occasionally law school graduates awaiting judicial clerkships) the outstanding opportunity to sample a full range of legal work and to become acquainted with the Rodey team.
As a summer associate, you will have supervised contact with clients and an opportunity to participate in litigation, as well as legal research and drafting.
Summer associates are not specifically assigned to a department and are invited to attend all department meetings. Each summer associate is assigned a mentor who is responsible for general assistance on firm matters. One or two of our attorneys are designated coordinators of the summer associate program. They regulate workload and try to ensure that each summer associate has a positive experience that closely parallels the practice of law at Rodey.
All attorneys are strongly encouraged to provide suggestions and comments on specific projects. Written work is reviewed and critiqued not only by the assigning attorney, but also by an attorney participating in the summer reading program. More formal evaluations are conducted in mid-summer and at the end of the summer. We think you will find the program informative, educational, and enjoyable.
If the following information describes you, we would like to hear from you. We are looking for:
- Energetic candidates of exceptional intelligence, character and personality who want to work with us toward a long-term relationship.
- Outstanding individuals seeking the challenges of a demanding law practice, the congeniality of a medium-sized firm and the engaging life-style of the southwest.
- Students with a high class ranking and involvement in law school activities such as law review or moot court.
We have hired associates with judicial clerkship experience and are always in search of applicants with such backgrounds.
We are an equal opportunity employer and actively encourage qualified individuals of diverse backgrounds to consider association with us.
Offers for Attorney Employment
The Rodey Law Firm hires approximately 3 to 4 summer associates each year. At the end of the summer program, we will consider making offers of permanent employment. Our expectation is that the majority of the associates hired will eventually become directors at Rodey. The standard partnership track is 6 1/2 years.
