Litigation Paralegal – Albuquerque, NM
The Rodey Law Firm is seeking qualified candidates for a Litigation Paralegal position in its Albuquerque office. In this role, you will support attorneys by managing a variety of essential tasks, including maintaining effective communication with clients and organizing case files, pleadings, attorney notebooks, and other critical documents. You will also be responsible for summarizing articles, reports, witness statements, and depositions. Accurate and detailed timekeeping is required.
Job Description
- Follows the ethical requirements as set forth by the Rules of Professional Conduct of the State of New Mexico;
- Reviews and analyzes cases in order to assist in the preparation of case for trial;
- Reviews and analyzes matters for the purpose of preparing matter evaluations and status reports to clients;
- Drafts complaints and answers, routine notices, affidavits, motions and petitions;
- Establishes, organizes and maintains pleadings boards, attorney trial notebooks, expert witness notebooks, document indexes and lists;
- Locates and confers with expert witnesses and resource consultants. Arranges for expert witness inspections and obtains approval from counsel of record and specified parties;
- Conducts research and locates cases, depositions, opinions, reports and information related to the matter;
- Reviews and outlines depositions, indexes and summarizes documents;
- Contacts and interviews parties, witnesses and experts, including obtaining written statements from witnesses;
- Utilizes computerized litigation techniques utilizing software when applicable;
- Assists in the preparation of the case for trial by drafting and preparing: Pretrial Orders, Form Instructions to the Jury, Requested Voir Dire of Jurors, Conduct Jury Investigations, Prepare Witness and Exhibit Lists, Motions in Limine and Subpoenas and contacts witnesses;
- Assists in the trial of the case including scheduling of witnesses and controls and tracks exhibits;
- Ability to travel to various locations to attend trials or other kinds of proceedings;
- Performs assigned legal research tasks using all available resources including libraries and computer data systems;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED;
- Minimum of 2 years of experience providing legal support in mid-size or large-size law firm;
- Must have excellent organizational skills; demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and flexibility, be detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced, multi-task legal environment;
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality;
- Ability to use initiative and judgment in working independently and also to work as a collaborative team member;
- Solid working knowledge of general office procedures and office equipment;
- Computer literacy including strong skills in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word;
- Ability to remain focused and perform essential duties despite time constraints and interruptions;
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or formal Paralegal certification and training;
- Working knowledge of a document management system.

Schedule
7.5 hour shift | On-site | Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
